In this tutorial, I’d be explaining to us: How to pair your phone’s Bluetooth device with your computer(if it’s having Bluetooth too), and how to connect your personal computer to the internet, via Bluetooth Tethering on an Android device, or a Java phone; and via USB Tethering on an Android device alone.
We are all aware that not everyone can afford subscribing to a modem, to enable an internet connection on a computer; or connecting to the internet, over a broadband. So far you can subscribe to an affordable data plan on your mobile device; you can also share with your computer, the same Internet connection that runs on your mobile device.
Let’s take a look at how we can connect our PC to the Internet via Bluetooth. Please Note, this segment can only work for personal computers with Bluetooth. Now first and foremost, ensure that your Data Connection is enabled on your android device, or you’ve enabled internet connection, on your java phone.
─ On an Android device: Go to Settings , put on your Bluetooth, then click on Tethering and portable hotspot .
Mark the check box beside Bluetooth tethering . You should see the text: “Sharing this phone’s Internet connection” below the Bluetooth tethering option that we enabled. Or on your Java Phone: just put on your Bluetooth, and that should be all. Now your device is ready to share its internet connection with your computer.
─ Now head over to the Control panel on your Computer, under the Network and Internet settings click on View network status and tasks
Note You might need to firstly add your phone’s Bluetooth device to your computer by opening the Start menu click on Devices and Printers and then click on Add a device which is located below the toolbar. It searches for available Bluetooth devices, if yours is being found, just click on it to add. You can scroll down to the second(next) Note in this tutorial, for a faster method of adding your Bluetooth device to your computer.
So after clicking on View network status and tasks , a new window opens as shown below, click on Set up a new connection or network
Another window opens, here you’re being asked to choose a connection option, scroll down and click on the option Connect to a Bluetooth personal area network (PAN) and then click on Next
Note In case your phone’s Bluetooth device isn’t among the listed devices: Go to Settings on your mobile phone. Click on Bluetooth . Make sure that your PC’s Bluetooth is on. Permit your phone to search for available Bluetooth devices, after it found your PC’s Bluetooth device, click on it to pair/connect with your PC’s Bluetooth device. Your phone’s Bluetooth device will be listed with other Bluetooth Personal Area Network Devices now.
Now after you’ve clicked on Next , a new window opens; locate your Bluetooth device here and then right click on it. Hover on Connect using and finally, click on Access Point
Whoops! A long journey huh? That’s just all! You can reach the internet on your computer now.
This segment is a little bit straight forward. On your mobile phone, connect your phone to the computer using your USB cable. On your phone, go to Settings click on Tethering and portable hotspot and then mark the checkbox beside USB Tethering .
That’s just all. Your computer will be connected to the internet automatically. I’d prefer to go for Bluetooth Tethering ‘cos it enables me to move my mobile phone around while it’s been connected, and ‘cos it doesn’t cause my PC to charge my phone automatically.
Seems this is the end of the tutorial, hope I helped in a way? 🙂
