FileZilla Client is a powerful, secure and free FTP client for transferring files over the internet.
As a web developer, I became quite familiar with uploading/downloading of files with the use of either a web based FTP Client, or a standalone FTP Client software. And the need to consider security plus effectiveness brought me to the idea, or let me say: made me end up choosing/using FileZilla Client for uploading/downloading my web development projects.
I’ve been using FileZilla Client for some weeks now, and fortunately for me, it has never given me any sort of headache; until I needed to clear my files on the queue for upload. I closed different connections so as to start afresh without having any files on the queue; but instead of the queued files being erased after closing each connection(and even after the program has been closed and restarted), they remained on the queue, and new files set for upload, joined them.
I thought of reinstalling the software after several unsuccessful attempts to clear the files on the queue, but that means “Giving up” which I do not know how to. I continued trying my luck to figure out a way to go about the little problem, and finally, I stumbled upon a solution to the little problem that came to be, as the result of lack of interest in familiarizing myself with the software, and its functionalities.
How to clear the files on the queue
Assuming you started uploading some files into the Wrong folder, cancelling the upload at that moment and restarting the upload of the same or another files into a right folder, will not make the former cancelled files, be removed from the queue. Cancelling the upload will only stop the upload of those files at that specific time, and join the new files to be uploaded to the queue along with the cancelled ones. I do not know if the software was developed to understand that only the new selected files alone should be uploaded in the new selected folder or all the files on the queue in general. I was uploading about 3000 files and the network was not so good, you don’t really expect me to test the intelligence of the software at a moment like that unno (you know)? Now, to clear the queued files so as to start afresh, the upload of the files into the right folder:
- Navigate to the toolbar and click on the Edit tool.
- After a drop down appears as shown in the above image, click on Clear private data
- An alert box pops up as shown below. Kindly, mark the checkbox beside Transfer queue , and you can mark other checkboxes, depending on what you want.
- After this, a confirmation box should pop up, asking if you really want to delete the transfer queue, click Yes of course! 😀 sorry, I mean Yes
Yebo! Problem fixed.
As you can see, the files on the queue has been successfully cleared. And now you can start uploading the files afresh into the right folder!
